SUMMARY
This position manages the FLA program for companies with agricultural supply chains globally.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Manage and coordinate day to day activities of the FLA with regard to company affiliates with agricultural supply chains
- Conduct/coordinate research and reports, develop tools and guidance documents, develop memos for the board
- Represent FLA in Stakeholder meetings relevant to the agriculture sector
- Develop project proposals and coordinate/implement projects as necessary
- Assist the director in coordinating the FLA Agriculture Benchmarks process
- Coordinate activities of the Agriculture Working Group of the FLA Board
- The position involves the management of a small and globally dispersed team.
Qualifications
- At least 5-7 years of experience in one or more of the following: CSR/Sustainability Management/Sustainable Supply Chain Management/Development/Auditing; experience in a global organization a plus
- At least 2-3 years of experience managing small teams preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of nonprofit operations and Board governance procedures
- At least a masters degree in any of the Social Science fields or Law or CSR is necessary
- SA 8000 or similar a plus
- Grant writing experience required
- Excellent command of the English language (both written and verbal); proficiency in another language desired
- Requires consistent and timely responses to phone and email inquiries
- Strong knowledge of MS Office
- Should have knowledge of general research and statistical terms (e.g. incidence, prevalence, cohort studies, hypothesis, mean, median, mode, average, confidence intervals etc.)
Key Skills and Abilities
- The person should be knowledgeable and well connected to the global CSR trends, initiatives, think tanks, subject relevant publications, stakeholders etc.
- Awareness of Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Labor Issues, Social Issues, Human Rights Issues etc.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and writing communication skills
- Ability to create effective tracking and management systems and to follow up and carry tasks through to completion
- Ability to multi-task and work with various groups of affiliates and global FLA staff
- Ability to take the initiative and work with minimal guidance in a fast-paced and growing organization
- An ability to exercise careful judgment
- Ability to maintain patience under pressure
- Creative and diplomatic problem solving skills are essential to the success of the individual in this role
- Good negotiation, mediation and reconciliation skills while dealing with companies and other stakeholders
