GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Develop and implement strategies, initiatives, and programs that align the Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC) with the goals of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Lead a team of employees and consultants, and manage an annual budget of over three million dollars.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set and oversee the corporate responsibility strategy of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation;
- Raise funds to support the BCLC budget and manage operating expenses. Ensure appropriate allocation and reallocation of resources to meet ongoing demands and changes in program of work.
- Identify, recruit and retain corporate supporters; Identify and pursue sponsorship opportunities;
- Build and maintain internal and external networks and working relationships to effectively carry out program of work.
- Serve as U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s lead spokesperson on issues related to Corporate Responsibility; Lead public events panel discussions around topics related to Corporate Responsibility.
- Identify, develop and implement program content and products;
- Lead program staff. Oversee work of program staff and assure that the program of work is meeting the needs and expectations of its supporting organizations and companies.
- Evaluate program’s effectiveness on an ongoing basis and enact changes as appropriate.
- Identify emerging trends in the internal and external environment (social, political, cultural, economic)
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Incumbent will report to and receive supervision by the EVP, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Incumbent is expected to work independently with minimal supervision; exercise sound judgment in making and executing decisions; demonstrate initiative in carrying out responsibilities; and to keep Executive Vice President informed of plans, progress and results.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Incumbent will directly supervise staff and oversee program operations and finances. Incumbent is responsible for setting clear expectations and goals; leading and motivating staff to work toward achieving the program’s vision and mission; building a team-oriented atmosphere; assisting staff with achieving professional development goals; communicating and enforcing policies and procedures; tracking, evaluating and providing constructive feedback on employee performance; and conducting timely, formal performance evaluations.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:
Requires executive-level corporate responsibility experience; proven business development and corporate fundraising experience; strong interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external executive level stakeholders; excellent verbal and written communication and business writing skills; strong public speaking and negotiation skills; the ability to successfully direct major events; flexibility for travel; business association and/or nonprofit leadership; the ability to build and maintain relationships with senior-level executives; the ability to successfully develop and implement strategic plans. The ability to be a self starter, problem-solver and decision maker; capability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines; financial analysis skills to include the ability to develop budgets and effectively allocate resources; strong computer skills; and the ability to build teams and to lead, manage and motivate staff. The ability to influence diverse situations across organizational boundaries at all levels of authority.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
