Your Job:

As the Environmental Specialist at Brooks you will play a key role in deepening our understanding and management of environmental impacts across our business and supply chain. This is an entry level position that will support the corporate responsibility department’s initiatives, with a specific focus on coordinating the collection of relevant data to better our understanding of environmental impacts and support the implementation of performance improvement initiatives, to ensure we continue innovation and thought leadership in this area for years to come.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and expand the data collection efforts both within the organization and throughout the supply chain.
  • Provide support with baseline understanding and performance improvement initiatives for key environmental impacts that support our environmental strategy.
  • Coordinate and expand employee engagement program, creating internal communication materials and campaigns to champion sustainability throughout the organization.
  • Coordinate with relevant internal teams to align goals and strategies.
  • Drive external brand collaboration through participation in the OIA Sustainability Working Group.
  • Support the corporate responsibility team in the development of external communications on our environmental performance, including our corporate responsibility report.
  • Conduct research and contribute ideas for innovative performance improvement initiatives.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Educational experience to include Bachelor’s degree in environmental management, environmental sciences, sustainable business, or other applicable technical degree.
  • 1-3 years of experience in environmental related work is preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of environmental and broader sustainability issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating effective listening through concise, clear verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that inspire and build trust resulting in effective working relationships across the company.
  • Keen attention to detail in planning, organization and execution of tasks, while still seeing the big picture and understanding how all of the pieces fit together and affect one another.
  • Ability to anticipate how a decision made can affect our customers, our partners, our products or other departments’ operations and/or morale; “connecting the dots.”
  • Familiarity with sustainability rankings and other reporting mechanisms, such as the GRI.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Passionate participation in Brooks’ sports activities a plus, overridden by the ability to understand and empathize with the runner in order to develop loyal, engaging relationships with our customers and the Brooks community.
