BSR's Version 2.0 of how to apply the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights to the ICT industry offers ten lessons learned after a year of evaluation and on-the-ground experience.
In June 2011, the United Nations Human Rights Council approved new Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
In August 2011, BSR published a report providing our perspective on how to apply these Guiding Principles to the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. Since then, we've undertaken significant work to put our thinking into practice: We've advised on the writing of human rights policies, facilitated engagements with human rights stakeholders, and undertaken human rights impact assessments (HRIAs).
We're now publishing "Version 2.0" of the report, with the ten key lessons we have learned during this time added to the original text. We also have a plan to include company case studies and more detailed HRIA methodologies in "Version 3.0" of this paper, which we expect to publish in 2013.
The original "Version 1.0" report is available here.
