BSR at 20: Accelerating Progress
As you read this edition of the Insight, BSR is kicking off its 20th anniversary Conference in New York—and many of you are here to join us.
This week, we are pleased to share with you our 20th anniversary Report, “BSR at 20: Accelerating Progress.” To celebrate this milestone, we have taken a slightly different tack with the Report. Instead of highlighting BSR’s activities over the past year, we have taken the time to assess how far the world has come in solving sustainability challenges, and what we need to do to accelerate progress. This week’s feature article, by BSR President and CEO Aron Cramer, excerpts from our Report.
If you are joining us at the Conference—or if you’re following the event online—we have a short guide on how to make the most of your time.
Also this week we highlight the sustainability priorities business leaders have identified as important for the next 12 months—pulled from the newly published BSR/GlobeScan “State of Responsible Business Poll 2012.”

What Is Business’ Top Sustainability Priority for 2013?
By Julia Robinson, Communications Associate, BSR
Last week, we released the results from the fourth annual BSR/GlobeScan poll of business leaders on the state of sustainable business, including how far we've come in the past 20 years and key areas of focus going forward. For the second year in a row, respondents identified integration of sustainability into core operations as the most important leadership challenge.
When asked what their companies' sustainability priorities will be for the next 12 months, respondents selected human rights, workers' rights, and climate change as major areas. Although these are consistent with our 2011 findings, workers' rights has replaced climate change as the second-greatest priority, even though two-thirds of respondents still selected it as a prime concern.
