BSR Insight | Social and Environmental Compliance in Licensing
While compliance with social and environmental standards in supply chains can drive business success and sustainability, the opportunities and barriers to compliance have not yet been fully explored within the licensing business model.
BSR's latest report highlights key findings from a survey on the needs and constraints of licensees in effectively managing the sustainability expectations of licensors:
- Licensees generally understand the expectations of licensors.
- Traditional compliance challenges such as costs, audit fatigue, and lack of resources are pervasive.
- Licensees are trying to increase collaboration with suppliers to build supply chain compliance.
- While there is a strong communications foundation between licensors and licensees, transparency and trust could be improved.
- There's a clear need for capability-building among licensees.
- Existing collaborative compliance efforts have not yet addressed licensees' needs such as a single audit methodology and a joint code of conduct.
