The International Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC), a new initiative by the Prince's Accounting for Sustainability Project and the Global Reporting Initiative, aims to create a globally accepted framework for sustainability accounting that combines financial, environmental, social, and governance information in a clear and comparable format.
More specifically, the IIRC will:
- Raise awareness around integrated reporting and develop a consensus among governments, listing authorities, companies, investors, accounting bodies, and standards-setters for the best way to address it.
- Develop an integrated reporting framework that establishes the scope for and key components of integrated reports.
- Consider whether standards should be voluntary or mandatory.
- Promote the adoption of integrated reporting by relevant regulators and report authors.
- Identify priority areas where additional work is needed.
For more insight on the challenges related to integrated reporting, read BSR's President and CEO Aron Cramer's recent Fast Company blog post, listen to our webinar, or read our feature article.
