Job Description

Purpose/Function of the role:

Monitor and engage on critical legislative, regulatory, and industry developments across the globe that could have an impact on Hasbro’s business including toy safety regulations, chemical regulations, specific market regulations, and barriers to trade.  

Primary Responsibilities/ Duties:

  • Lead Hasbro’s Global Regulatory Affairs practice.  Direct the development and management of Hasbro’s internal toy safety standards as a part of QA and Regulatory Affairs Technical Committee to reflect and comply with global legal requirements, external regulations, industry standards, Hasbro’s internal policies and learnings from our own and competitive products.  Communicate standards and provide interpretations to all internal QA and Regulatory staffs and applicable product development teams.
  • Represent Hasbro on trade associations (e.g. TIA) technical toy safety standards workgroups (ASTM, ISO) to ensure Hasbro’s voice, experience and expertise are incorporated in newly developed standards –including participation or leadership in specific workgroups or subcommittees.
  • Prepare and submit externally mandated regulatory reports including chemical reports as required by federal and or state laws.  Chair Hasbro’s Conflict Minerals survey process and report preparation.
  • Review global regulatory proposals and identify issues/risks that could impact Hasbro products or processes; develop recommendations for Management.
  • Self-development and mentoring of Regulatory staff members.
  • Domestic and International travel required.  

Qualifications

  • Technical BS degree; engineering or regulatory preferred; J.D. background a plus.
  • At least 15 years’ experience in the toy, juvenile products, or other highly regulated consumer products industry, where safety is a top priority, with particular focus on safety standards and product safety (toy safety preferred).
  • Good written, communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
