BSR Conference 2011: Redefining Leadership
Session Descriptions
Sustainability in Mainstream Financial Reporting
We stand at a significant juncture in the development of sustainability reporting. Many companies are integrating CSR issues into their annual financial reports, and the International Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC) has published proposals for a new framework with the potential to re-shape corporate reporting for the 21st century. In addition, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is embarking on a process to create the “G4” version of its Sustainability Reporting Guidelines, while an increasing number of regulators around the world are putting new disclosure requirements in place. In this two-hour workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to hear directly from those leading these critical developments and to make your views known about the future of the IIRC, GRI, and the merits of mandatory and voluntary approaches to reporting. You’ll also learn from companies that have begun to evolve their approaches to sustainability performance reporting, and can participate in an open exchange about the challenges and opportunities presented by mainstreaming the practice.
