BSR Conference 2011: Redefining Leadership
Session Descriptions
Scaling for the New Local
The 21st century has been called the “century of the city.” There are tremendous environmental, social, cultural, and business implications of the ever-increasing flood of people into megacities and regions. Given the context of this rapid urbanization, how might businesses re-scale offerings to succeed in this future scenario? What new and adaptive tools, business models, approaches, and understanding will be necessary to respond to the “new local”? How will we engage people on this shift from consumers to actors? This two-hour collaborative workshop will challenge participants to understand the new context and design solutions to the dilemmas presented by this inevitable progression.
