Raj Sapru

Raj leads BSR's global manufacturing practice, overseeing membership and consulting advice for companies in the automotive, aerospace, diversified manufacturing, urban infrastructure, and construction sectors. His work has focused on CSR strategy, stakeholder engagement, CSR reporting, and corporate environmental planning with companies such as Hitachi, GE, Boeing, Embraer, Eaton, UTC, Maersk Line, and others.

Raj's work has recently focused on BSR's globalizing manufacturing members who need to better engage with local stakeholders and use CSR to support business strategy for emerging markets.

Raj led the Clean Cargo Working Group (CCWG), a global multi-company initiative focused on reducing environmental impacts in the container shipping sector, from 2007-2011. CCWG grew to include a significant portion of the container shipping sector and major global brands including Walmart, Nike, and Coca-Cola. The CCWG remains a unique and successful collaboration between buyers and suppliers of transportation and logistics services.

Prior to joining BSR in 2004, Raj focused on community engagement, mine reclamation, and land-use planning as a civil and environmental engineer at Edw. C. Levy Co., a Michigan-based diversified constructional materials and steel mill services company.

Raj holds an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business, with a focus in corporate strategy and corporate social responsibility. He also holds a B.S.E. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan.
