- BSR led a CSR presentation and discussion with the Board of Directors of this leading transportation company to help them better understand key CSR challenges facing the industry. The presentation included benchmarking data on industry-specific CSR performance, CSR issues and trends analysis, an overview of CSR management practices, as well as counsel on the roles and responsibilities of board-level CSR committees
- BSR led a major stakeholder engagement process for this global automobile manufacturer to help the company identify critical social and environmental issues that should be folded into the company’s overarching CSR strategy and priorities. The process culminated in a full-day stakeholder summit, attended by the company’s CEO and senior executives, during which participants developed three core social and environmental goals for the company over the next five years.

- BSR worked closely with this leading transportation company to develop a guidebook and training materials that staff in regional plant locations can use to help them constructively engage stakeholders and positively impact local communities.
- BSR conducted a benchmarking project for a transportation equipment manufacturer on the various ways in which companies have developed strategic alliances with non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
- BSR has provided strategic input on tone, content, scope and management structures for managing CSR reports for a variety of companies in the industry. BSR has also participated on the cross-functional committees often formed to develop CSR reports, and provided guidance on the likely stakeholder reaction to report content.

Working Groups and Convenings
BSR leads and facilitates a diverse range of gatherings to help companies share critical information about issues and trends, develop and/or respond to new standards, and collaborate to address common challenges.
- BSR leads three multi-industry working groups that promote sustainable freight transportation through the development of environmental metrics, assessment tools and reporting standards: 1) Clean Cargo focusing on ocean transport; 2) Green Freight focusing on ground transport; and 3) Sustainable Freight Transport focusing on international and intermodal transportation.
- KBSR has led several trainings for auto parts manufacturers on emerging issues and trends in CSR, and the social and environmental requirements of their core customers.
Supply Chain
BSR provides counsel to companies on the spectrum of supply chain issues including strategy and policy development, risk assessment, audit and verification processes, and management systems to encourage supplier ownership. BSR also conducts internal staff trainings and supplier workshops on a wide range of supply chain issues.
- As part of BSR's strategic human right work with this global automobile company, BSR staff accompanied third party auditors on factory visits to suppliers in China to observe the social auditing process and provide feedback on possible improvements. The results of these visits helped inform the company's code of conduct and overall approach to sourcing in China and globally.
- BSR worked closely with a leading automotive company to convene a meeting of its first tier suppliers on the topic of environmental management and performance including expectations around ISO14001 and the company's environmental vision for the next five to ten years.
