Julia provides editorial, media, marketing, and digital support to BSR staff and projects. She is responsible for BSR's social media, marketing communications and materials, and web content. Julia produces and provides editorial direction for BSR's biweekly newsletter, the BSR Insight, and other content vehicles. She also edits organizational deliverables, including BSR research reports and sustainability reports for member and client companies.
Previously, Julia worked in Cape Town, South Africa, for mothers2mothers, a social enterprise and NGO that employs women living with HIV as peer educators to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV. As a fellow supporting the president and CEO, she collaborated with the senior management team and Board of Directors on communications, strategy, and funding and grant issues. She also analyzed the human rights environments in site countries, bilateral and multilateral funding policy, and approaches for engaging high-net-worth and venture philanthropists. Prior to that, she worked in Sierra Leone for the West Africa Fistula Foundation, a nonprofit that provides surgery, medical care, and psychosocial support to women suffering from obstetric fistula.
Julia holds a B.A. in African History from Columbia University, where she focused on Francophone West Africa. She is fluent in French, intermediate in Wolof, and a beginner in Krio.
