Courtney manages content, recruits speakers, and executes logistics for the BSR Conference 2013: The Power of Networks—one of the world’s preeminent corporate responsibility events. Courtney has more than ten years of experience in CSR, business development, project management, social entrepreneurship, global health and environmental policy, and economic development.
Courtney served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Guatemala and as the sole bilingual (Spanish) public affairs specialist and press officer for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 2 (serving New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and eight tribal nations). At the EPA, she managed media and public relations, including press releases and technical briefs, interviews with major print and broadcast media, and press events with high-profile government officials, including New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Courtney has held an array of consulting and research positions, including deputy chair of global health for the Clinton Global Initiative, logistics and program manager for the Dress for Success Worldwide Women’s Economic Development Success Summit Leadership Conference, global health research manager of intellectual property and the Brazilian universal access to health care system at the Instituto de Saude Coletiva of Universidade Federal da Bahia, and consultant for the Global Action for Health Sprinkles program in Kenya and Tanzania.
Throughout her career, Courtney has created partnerships with organizations and companies, such as American Express, CARE, the Gates Foundation, the Heinz Company Foundation, HKI, Octagon Marketing, the McKinsey Global Public Health Practice, PAHO, PATH, the SEVA Foundation, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the UN World Food Program, the World Health Organization, and many more.
Courtney received her M.A. from the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University and Certificate Degrees from Duke University in Global Health, Health Policy, and Latin American Studies. Courtney graduated Cum Laude from the R.H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she focused on International Economics and Health Care Marketing.
