2007 BSR Conference Overview

Designing a Sustainable Future

October 23-26, 2007 | San Francisco, California

Over 1,350 business, nonprofit and government leaders from nearly 50 countries gathered in San Francisco October 23-26 to attend the largest BSR Annual Conference ever: "Designing a Sustainable Future."

The conference reflected exciting examples of sustainability in practice and also served as a catalyst for new ideas and initiatives. Plenary speakers -- Cynthia Carroll, CEO of mining company Anglo American; Gerd Leipold, Executive Director of Greenpeace International; Robert Eckert, Chairman and CEO of Mattel; Vinod Khosla, Partner of Khosla Ventures and the founding CEO of Sun Microsystems; Sir Michael Rake, International Chairman of KPMG and Chairman Elect of BT; and Robert B. Reich, former U.S. Labor Secretary -- led entertaining and thought-provoking discussions, drawing upon their experiences, perspectives and best practices.

In between plenary addresses, participants networked and absorbed rich content in more than 35 breakout sessions of varying formats -- panels, interactive discussions and working groups. Sessions touched upon various issues, from corporate water strategy and transparency to values crucial for business sustainability in developing countries.

These are just a few of the highlights captured at the conference, and we are grateful to those who joined us in San Francisco and took part in the event. Learn more about the 2007 Conference and check back here soon for highlights from each of the sessions.

This year's attendance underscores the unprecedented attention to corporate responsibility issues globally and confirms our hunch that this is the most influential event of its kind anywhere.
