Michael Oxman, Director, Advisory Services

With over 14 years of corporate and field experience working in the oil and gas industry, Michael helps clients assess and manage their social and environmental impacts wherever they do business. He specializes in conducting country entry risk assessments, supporting local content initiatives, developing community engagement initiatives, and providing strategic analyses on social responsibility policies, frameworks, and reports for a broad range of energy clients.

Prior to joining BSR in 2006, Michael worked at Chevron as the Senior Planning Analyst for the Eurasia Business Unit in Kazakhstan, and later served as the unit's liaison to upstream headquarters in California. Michael was also responsible for financial and economic modeling of upstream opportunities, and he served as one of the primary developers of an internal process for improved integration of "above ground" risk management into business unit strategy.

Michael holds a B.A. in Russian Area Studies from Trinity College, an M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia University, and an M.B.A. from Rice University. Michael is also proficient in Russian.
